On October 5, 2024, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s eleventh and penultimate launch of the season. The weather was ideal with moderate season temperatures, blue skies and light winds. We welcomed new members Fraser and Oliver Forsythe to the club. Welcome aboard. A small group of members took advantage of the great flying conditions launching Sport, Scale, Camera, Two Stage, Two Cluster, Chute Release, Dual Deployment and Streamer Duration models with a very high successful flight rate. by the end of the day we launched 43 model rockets and burned 48 engines with a theoretical total impulse of 968 Neutons. Fun was had by all.
We got a visit from long time member George Kostov who donated about a dozen rockets for the clubs younger members to have. Some members put engines in their new rockets and successfully flew them. Than you George.
The launch was paused for about 15 minutes while I conducted a Streamer Duration workshop offering tips on how to optimize your streamer duration models to improve flight success rates as well as flight duration times. After demonstrating my ASP Hang Time model, two members, Dylan Wheildon and Kevin McLeod flew their models on 1/2A.3-4T engines with 100% success. Well done!!!
