On Sunday February 10, 2019, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s first model rocket launch of the season.
It was a “mini” launch held at the Mohawk Road launch site under ideal winter conditions. The temperature hovered at around -4 C, the winds were relatively steady between 8 – 10 kph under overcast skies. A total of 11 people showed up with 7 cars and we started launching around 11:15 in the morning.
We flew a total of 27 model rockets using everything from “A” to “G” engines. We managed to burn 1,120 Newtons of impulse or the equivalent of 87.5% of an “I” model rocket motor. We had some models fly with on board cameras and telemetry. Many of the models were difficult to spot in the overcast conditions and unfortunately we did manage to lose one model.
I want to thank those that braved the winter conditions and look very much forward to seeing many more members and guests at our first “scheduled” model rocket launch on Saturday April 13th.
