On Sunday November 8th, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s 11th and final scheduled launch of the year. We were greeted with phenomenal weather for this time of year and make members and guests took full advantage. The temperatures were in the low 20’s with very light meandering winds gusting up to 10 KPH and blue skies. We had a large contingent of guests, some of who socially distanced by setting up approximately 100 metres west of the launch site.
We managed to fly a total of 56 model rockets including scale, S2P testing, multi-stage, on board video, cluster, scale, boost gliders and radio-controlled rocket gliders. Our success rate was very high. We even managed to recover one model that got hung up on a hydro wire with the use of an extended pole. One of our flyers was a first timer and he managed 5 successful flights. Welcome aboard. Refer to the attached photos for some examples (batch 1 of 2). By the end of the day. we managed to burn 63 model rocket engines with a theoretical total impulse of 2,042 Neutons.
This was our final scheduled launch of the year and I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our members and guests for their support, understanding and patience during this difficult COVID-19 conditions. I know that a number of members were unable to join us this season due to COVID-19 and we can only hope that this pandemic will be somewhat under control by the time we get going again next year when we hopefully return to a “{new” normal, whatever that may be.
