On Saturday April 30, 2022, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s second launch of the year, Season Opener Part 2. We decided to hold a second season opener after last weeks launch was flown under less-than-ideal conditions due to high winds. On Saturday we were greeted with clear skies, seasonal temperatures and moderate winds. We once again set up on our secondary launch site on the north side of 510 Mohawk Road because our primary field is not yet ready for us.
We had a great turnout for this launch with 20 CRC members present as well as several guests.
We managed to launch 75 model rockets including some scale models, two stage models and piggy back gliders. We also burned a total of 81model rocket engines ranging from 1/4A motors to G motors with a combined theoretical total impulse of 1,747 Neutons. Our two-season openers launch total was 113 model rockets launched, our best season start ever. With the lifting of most Covid-19 restrictions, we are now returning to our new normal and the future look very bring. We have received a number of cold calls about our club and welcomed 7 new members to the club in April with several more interested in joining the club.
