On August 1st, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s sixth launch of 2020. The temperatures were hot and the winds moderate. Unfortunately the easterly winds compromised our recover zone and several rockets were lost. We welcomed several new members to the club and continue to grow our membership.
The theme of the day was Scale and we had members launch numerous scale models including Tomahawk, Honest John, Scud-B, Black Brant, Mercury Redstone, Saturn V and Falcon 9 to name a few. By the end of the day we managed to launch Fifty-four (54) model rockets including a few boost gliders and burn a total of Fifty-seven (57) model rocket engines ranging from 1/2A to G motors. The total impulse of the engines burned equaled 2,208 Newtons.
Our next scheduled CRC launch is on Saturday August 15th and the theme of this launch is Oldies but Goodies. We encourage members to bring out old, odd and discontinued model rockets to the launch so that some of the younger members can experience the rockets from the past.
