On July 4, 2020 the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s fourth launch of the year under clear skies, 30 degree temperatures and modest 10 – 15 KPH winds. This launch was open to all club members and guests for the first time this year. We complied with Covid-19 protocols be physical distancing, wearing masks and only utilizing four of the eight club launch pads.
The ideal conditions resulted in our largest turn-out so far with twenty-eight (28) members and guests present throughout the day. In all, we managed to launch 64 model rockets, 4 boost gliders and 2 radio controlled rocket gliders. The theme for the day was multi staging and we flew 16 two stage rockets and 1 three stage rocket with a very high success rate. We also managed to fly some scale rockets, cluster rockets and an on-board video camera rocket.
By the end of the day we burned a total of 91 model rocket engines with a rated total impulse of 2,615 newtons or 55 newtons above a “K” motor.
