The Cambridge Rocket Club completed it’s third launch of the season on June 10th and this was the biggest one (so far). The weather was ideal with low winds and a high temperature of 23 degrees under variably skies. We had a great turn-out with 18 different members flying their rockets. We welcomed a new member to the club as well as a few members participating in their first launch of the season.
We launched a total of 77 model rockets. The theme of the day was multi-staging and we had 20 two stage and one three stage rockets flown. The launches also included cluster rockets, scale rockets, on-board camera rockets and a glider. The success rate was very high with only a few malfunctions. By the end of the day, we burned a total of 105 model rocket engines for a theoretical total impulse of 2,303 Neutons. It was a lot of fun for all those that attended.
Our next launch is on June 24th and it will be our annual A.8-3 Parachute Spot Landing contest sponsored by the Canadian Rocket Store. The club will provide each contest participant two A.8-3 model rocket engines so that they can fly twice. The closest to the target of the two launches will be their score. The first-place winner will receive a $75. Canadian Rocket Store gift certificate as well as free 2024 Cambridge Rocket Club membership. The second place winner will receive a $50. gift certificate and the third place winner will receive a $25. gift certificate. Get ready for some competitive fun.
