On Saturday June 13, 2020, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s second launch of the year once again under COVID-19 protocols with the exception that we were now allowed to increase the number of participants to not greater than ten (10) members. The skies were clear under cool conditions (12 degrees Celsius) and moderate winds from 15 KPH gusting to 25 KPH. The wind direction from the North-East also presented a challenge as the elongated field is configured in an east-west direction.
The launch was carried out in two (2) launch windows of three (3) hours each. The morning session stated at 9:00 in the morning and the afternoon session started at 12:00 noon. In total we has eleven (11) members participate and we launched a total of 42 model rockets. We flew everything from 1/2A engines to G engines. The types of models flown included multi stage, cluster, scale and on-board camera rockets. In total we burned forty-nine (49) model rocket engines with a combined impulse of 1,475 Newtons. We also had two (2) members fly radio controlled hand launched glider aircraft. A good time was had by all.
