On July 23, 2022, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s sixth launch of the season. The weather was warm with gusty winds and the threat of rain. The launch was run by two new Range Officers, Tim Nicholls and Bill Gee. The theme of the launch was oldies but goodies and we did fly several discontinued models as well as a couple of boost gliders and two stage rockets. We also had another launch attempt by Students from McMaster University, unfortunately their dual deployment system failed to activate.
The launch was curtailed early due to the risk of thunderstorms and we shut down the range at arounf 11:30. We did manage to launch 23 rockets, burning 30 model rocket engines with a theoretical total impulse of 421 Neutons. Due to the shortened launch day and since our next scheduled launch is in 3 weeks, we will try to schedule a mini-launch before the 13th if we have good weather. It would be a short notice launch and typically, these launches are not well attended.
