The Cambridge Rocket Club hosted a short notice Mini-launch on Monday August 2nd. The short notice was due to an unreliable weather forecast that cancelled the schedule July 31st launch and favourable weather on the Holiday Monday. Six club members and several guests showed up under a clear blue sky, warm temperatures and gusty at times winds. We note that the primary launch site sod has now been harvested and much of the field cultivated. The northerly wind directions did however allow us to set up at the east end of the field. It is very likely that our next launch scheduled for Saturday August 7th will have to be relocated to the north side of Mohawk Road. Additional details to follow.
We did manage to launch eleven model rockets and used engines ranging from 1/4A to G impulse. The flights included some scale rockets, two stage, three cluster, movie camera rocket as well as a Level 1 Certification test launch. In total we burned 16 model rocket engines with a theoretical total impulse of 633 Neutons. We had a good time and took advantage of a break in the weather.
