On August 8, 2021 the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s 8th launch of the season. This launch was postponed 24 hours due to poor weather (again). The postponement along with a Sunday launch impacted the turnout as we had many more guests than fliers at this launch. Fog in the morning may also have discouraged some members from coming out. The weather was hot and humid with mild shifting winds and a cloudy sky. Also, the Southerly wind direction in combination with a mostly cultivated field resulted in us setting up at the west end of the launch site which substantially reduced the landing zone.
We did manage to fly 38 model rockets including motors ranging from 1/4A to F impulse. The models we all generally sport models including some egg lofting rockets, altitude rocket, streamer duration rocket, movie camera rocket and boost glider rockets. We also flew our annual A.8-3 Parachute Spot Landing contest sponsored by the Canadian Rocket Store. With only 4 participants the chance of winning the first-place prizes of a $75. gift voucher and free 2021 CRC membership were greatly improved compared with past years. Each participant was allowed to fly three times with A.8-3 model rocket engines provided by the Cambridge Rocket Club.
