On Saturday September 18, 2021, the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s nineth launch of the year. We were greeted under blue skies with mild temperatures and winds. We temporarily relocated to our launch site north of the primary launch site as the primary site has just been resodded. The conditions were ideal and many members and guests participated. We took advantage of the ideal conditions and managed to launch 62 model rockets utilizing everything from 1/2 A to G motors. The launces included mostly spot models, some two stage and scale models. By the end of the day, we managed to burn 67 motors with t total theoretical total impulse of 765 Newtons.
The feature of the day was the annual A.3-4T Streamer Duration contest sponsored by Sunward Hobbies. We had a total of six competitors fly their streamer duration models twice each to cumulate a total time in the air to determine a winner. Last year’s winner Paul Kobialka defended his championship with two excellent flights to claim the $75. Sunward Hobbies voucher first place prize as well as a pre-paid 2022 CRC membership. Our second-place winner Anton Epp claimed the $50. prize and Nathan Green took home the third-place prize. This contest is relatively new to the membership and I can see the minds starting to work on next year’s designs.
