On Saturday May 18, 2019 the Cambridge Rocket Club hosted it’s fourth launch of the season. The launch was once again held at our secondary launch site, LS5 – Mohawk Road in Cambridge as our primary launch site LS2 Paisley Road in Guelph is still too wet to access.
The weather was mild with overcast skies and moderate winds gusting to 20 KPH. A total of 25 members and guests were on site to watch 47 rockets, 4 boost gliders and 2 radio control gliders launched. We burned a total of 56 engines totaling 1,698 Newtons of impulse. There were many spectacular launches including a few misfires. We had one “E” motor blow out it’s nozzle causing the model to crash near the launch pad and a small experimental rocket using a composite “D” motor “chuff” on the launch pad bouncing four times before successfully lifting off. We also had some larger scale rockets (Black Brant and Nike Smoke) fly successful missions.
